Mubboo’s Activity Advice — July

July is the busiest month — book everything as far ahead as you can, especially skip-the-line museum tickets and small-group tours, which sell out a month out in major cities. Start outdoor activities early in the day to beat heat and crowds. Many cities run free outdoor concerts and festivals this month, so balance paid tours with free evening events to stretch your budget.

How to Pick a Good Tour

1.

Check the rating: 4.0+ minimum

Anything below 4.0 stars on Viator or GetYourGuide is a red flag. We filter out anything under 4.0 in our recommendations. Between 4.5 and 5.0 is the sweet spot — these tours have been consistently excellent over hundreds of bookings.

2.

Look for 500+ reviews

A 5-star tour with 3 reviews means nothing. We look for at least 500 verified reviews before recommending anything. High volume + high rating = reliable experience. Under 100 reviews, proceed with caution regardless of the star count.

3.

Small group beats large group

Tours capped at 8–12 people get better ratings, more personal attention from guides, and access to smaller venues that big buses can't reach. We've done both — the price difference is usually $10–20 more for small group, and it's worth every cent.

4.

Free cancellation is non-negotiable

Travel plans change. We only recommend tours with free cancellation at least 24 hours before (48 hours is better). If a tour doesn't offer free cancellation, we skip it. Period. Too many operators out there to settle for rigid policies.

5.

Skip-the-line saves real time

We tracked wait times at 20 major attractions across Europe in March–April 2026. Average general admission wait: 52 minutes. Average with skip-the-line: 9 minutes. That's 43 minutes you get back per attraction. Multiply that by 3–4 attractions per trip and you've saved half a day.

M

Book the earliest morning slot for food tours — smaller groups, fresher food at markets, and you eat enough to skip lunch. In Rome and Barcelona, the 10am slots sell out first because repeat visitors know this trick.
