FAQ

Where does Mubboo's environmental data come from?

Air quality data comes from the EPA's Air Quality System (AQS). Climate normals come from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, covering 30-year averages (1991-2020). EV charging station data comes from the Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Station Locator.

What is the Air Quality Index (AQI)?

AQI is a standardized scale from 0 to 500 that measures daily air pollution levels. 0-50 is 'Good,' 51-100 is 'Moderate,' and above 100 is progressively unhealthy. We show annual median AQI for each area.

What are climate normals?

NOAA Climate Normals are 30-year averages of temperature, precipitation, and other weather variables. They represent 'typical' weather for an area and are updated every 10 years. Our data uses the 1991-2020 normals period.

Does Mubboo track natural disaster risk?

Disaster declaration history is available from FEMA data on individual ZIP code pages and on the Safety hub. The Environment hub focuses on air quality, climate, and green infrastructure.

How often is environmental data updated?

EPA air quality data is updated annually. NOAA climate normals are static (next update expected around 2031). DOE charging station data is updated regularly as new stations open. We refresh our database when new releases become available.

Air quality data from EPA AirNow, climate normals from NOAA NCEI (1991-2020), and EV stations from the U.S. DOE Alternative Fuels Data Center. EPA + DOE update annually; NOAA normals are static (next update ~2031). See our full methodology →
